Dropping the latest celebrity news

In the early morning of January 4th, Britney Spears was removed from her mansion by medical professionals following a dramatic and chaotic evening.
After providing a deposition for her custody battle with Kevin earlier in the day, Spears had planned to spend the afternoon with her two boys in the comfort of her Beverly Hills mansion.
The scheduled time for Britney to pass her boys to KFed’s staff came and went. By the time the cops descended on Spears’ gated community, Britney had barricaded herself in the bathroom with Jayden, who was unharmed.
Britney was subsequently removed from her home and placed at the UCLA Medical Ward where she was analyzed for three days before eventually being released.
It would be another few weeks before Britney finally got the intervention she needed and her father was appointed as what’s now become a permanent conservator.
She’s so much better now, it’s almost like that was a different person!

Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and little Suri were spotted leaving their NYC apartment last night, and it looks like the famous family was stoked to be together for New Year’s.
On a different note, how do you feel about Katie’s bell bottoms? Think they’re better than the rolled up dungarees, leggings or skinny jeans she normally wears? Hmm…
Oh, and Connor was there too!

In 2008, actresses swapped boyfriends, boybanders went from one teen starlet to the next, the Gossip Girl cast decided to date one another, and somehow, hunky Rob Pattinson was thrown into the mix (we’ll explain this later).
It seemed like everyone was in the mood for sloppy seconds this year, and there were even some catfights too! So how are all these stars connected to one another? X17 breaks it down for you, so click after the jump to see the connections between these folks!
1. After a string of failed romances, Paris Hilton started dating Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden shortly after Valentine’s Day (and on the heels of his split with fiancee Sophie Monk!). So what’s the Paris/Benji/Sophie connection to Hugh Hefner? In the spring of 2008, Playboy offered Sophie million to take it all off for the men’s magazine.
2. 2008 was the year that Hugh Hefner lost his prized bunnies - first Kendra Wilkinson left him and got engaged to NFL star Hank Baskett, and then he lost his main Girl Next Door, Holly Madison to none other than illusionist Criss Angel. So how is Hef connected to another group of lovers? Read on!
3. Right after Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair photo “scandal,” Hef called the 15-year-old singer a “very pretty lady” and added that she would be “welcomed in the magazine.” And of course, little miss Hannah Montana is where the teenybopper love triangle hexagon septagon begins.
Miley started dating Nick Jonas in mid 2007, but their puppy love came to a screeching halt in December of that year, and just a few months later, the youngest Jonas brother started dating another Disney starlet, Selena Gomez. Miley and Selena got into a little YouTube tiff, and many speculated that Miley’s video retaliation was a response to her being (rightfully) pissed about Selena snacking on her leftovers. After Miley got over the whole Jonas thing, she moved on to greener pastures, and she seems to have found happiness with underwear model Justin Gaston, who recently appeared onstage with country cutie Taylor Swift at the CMAs. Don’t worry though - there’s absolutely nothing going on with these two - Taylor would never do to Miley what a certain actress did to her and her very own Jonas brother!
4. The Jonas brothers apparently make great sloppy seconds - just ask Camilla Belle, who began dating Joe Jonas just hours after he broke it off with Taylor Swift. Only a few weeks after Camilla and Joe became an item, several reports linked the 10,000 BC actress to Rob Pattinson, but several others claimed Camilla is dating Rob’s friend, actor Tom Sturridge. So which is it? We have no idea, but girlfriend definitely gets around, so someone else might end up on this list before 11:59pm tonight!
5. So let’s go back to the number two group for a second, and forget about all those hormonal teenagers and their songs about each other. Here comes Hef’s involvement with yet another love cluster! When Holly Madison and Criss Angel became a couple, we began to make a list of all the ladies the illusionist has hooked up with, and we realized that he’s connected to the Jennifer Aniston group via Cameron Diaz! Criss dated Cameron back in late 2007, and then we realized that the 36-year-old actress dated a bunch of dudes in 2007 and 2008 and then shared them with everyone’s best Friend, Jennifer Aniston.
Cam started off with an appetizer of John Mayer, and then she moved on to a main dish of Paul Sculfor. Jen was busy dating Paul around the same time Cameron was with John, and right around the time Cameron was getting busy with Gerard Butler, Jen and John became an item. Jen and Gerard are in talks to star in a movie together, and they’ve been spotted out several times, so we’re thinking John might be a thing of the past after Jen’s had a few love scenes with King Leonidas, Gerard! So who’s the connector between the Butifer group? Leave that to Charlie’s Angels!
6. Cameron Diaz’s BFF, Drew Barrymore made out with Gossip Girl player Ed Westwick back in September, but Ed likes to keep his options open! The 22-year-old actor was recently linked to GG co-star Jessica Szohr, and we’re beginning to wonder if Ed is more like the womanizing Chuck Bass than we previously thought!
7. Ed and Jessica and Drew are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to GG hookups - Blake Lively and Penn Badgely are an item, and rumors have been swirling that 15-year-old Taylor Momsen and Chace Crawford are heating things up offscreen now! And it seems like the ladies can’t stop talking about Chace!
8. The lovely Amanda Bynes said what’s on most of our minds recently, when she told Cosmopolitan that she wouldn’t date Chace Crawford because he was “too pretty.” So what kind of guy catches Amanda’s eye? A hunky jock! Amanda and baseball player Doug Reinhardt are officially an item, and if you think Doug looks familiar, you’re right - he briefly dated Lauren Conrad and appeared on a few episodes of The Hills.
So there you have it - whether it’s via a friend, a job or sexy times, everyone from Paris Hilton to Lauren Conrad is connected in the Hollywood dating pool. Whew!

I guess when you have a baby girl as cute as Honor, it’s hard not to crack a smile every now and then! Jessica Alba and a gal pal went for a walk in the park yesterday, and we were shocked to see the normally poker faced actress looking so, well, happy!
Why can’t she smile all the time?
Zac and Vanessa leaving (quickly) from the Daily Grill in Studio City:
yes, he is in fact levitating.
eta: i am happy they seem at least moderately amused by the situation, cause sometimes they are so
looking and i don’t need anymore

Is Bollywood remaking Back to the Future? RealBollywoodNews is reporting that Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai have been cast in Action Replay (yeah, horrible title…), a film which will be unofficially based on the popular 1985 Robert Zemeckis film Back to the Future. BTTF.com was able to contact Future producer/screenwriter Bob Gale who denied any knowledge of the production.
Bollywood has a long history of “borrowing” film storylines from popular Hollywood films (google “bollywood star wars”). The ages of the two leads (41 and 35 respectfully) confirm that it won’t be a close adaptation. Action Replay will begin production in February 2009.

“What a year, what a year. While everyone else includes DVDs in their best and worst lists, I solely focus on films that hit theaters. While compiling my lists, I couldn’t believe how hard it was to pick ten films that I felt were worth even mentioning as “the best”. While I barely succeeded, the worst list was much easier, which was pretty disappointing from my standpoint.
That means this was a lousy year for horror and that the majority of horror films released were bad. Looking forward to 2009, I can’t say I expect anything different next year, but one can only hope… beyond the break you can check out my list of the best horror films of 2008. Don’t forget you can chime in with your own lists and thoughts below, or write your own reviews in our MoviePit.
10.Splinter (October 31; Magnet Releasing)
“The creature feature is loaded with blood, guts, gore, the perfect anti-hero and a hilariously fun plot, which is played straight until the very end.. Wilkins delivers a simple, yet effective ‘80s creature feature that’s not only scary, but also a great time.” Click here for the full review.
When this film got delayed again and again I started to think that there was something wrong. Typically when a film is shelved there’s a reason. When I finally got a chance to see McLean’s follow-up to WOLF CREEK I was blown away. I guess I can understand why the film wasn’t given a major release, especially after the other giant croc pic, but it sucks that ROGUE took the fall. The film features a high level of suspense, beautiful camerawork and a giant croc that delivers exactly what it promises - total destruction. This movie is a gem that I will watch over and over again.
8. Repo! The Genetic Opera (November 7; Lionsgate)
“REPO! is a special treat, a film that should have never been, the bastard child of a studio, something that is so distinct that you can barely begin to compare it to anything else. If you’re a fan of musicals, I GUARANTEE that this will become a cult classic in your collection, for everyone else this is a unique film that – whether it’s good or bad - will give you a new theatrical experience. And that’s something special in this day and age.” Click here for the full review.
7. The Ruins (April 4; DreamWorks)
“THE RUINS has turned over a new leaf in horror and will get inside even the thickest of horror fans’ skin.” Click here for the full review.
6. The Midnight Meat Train (August 1; Lionsgate)

“Liongate’s TMMT is the first BOOK OF BLOOD to depart from the station in a long time and it’s refreshing to see that the film carries that bleak, yet romantic touch of Clive Barker all over it. MEAT TRAIN is guaranteed to make you squirm, scream and beg for more.” Click here for the full review.
5. Quarantine (October 10; Sony Screen Gems)
I have never had such a hard time writing a review in my life. I had seen [REC] almost exactly a year before I saw the remake from Sony Screen Gems. To my surprise QUARANTINE was nearly the exact same film. When I went to write my review, it literally felt like I was rewriting my review for [REC] and originally gave up. You might as well just read my review for the Spanish original. “[REC] has it all and is probably one of the best Spanish horror films in recent memory… I give it the B-D stamp of approval and smile at the fact that something extraordinary has finally come out of Filmax.”
4. Vinyan (TBD 2009; Sony)
“While the film is sure to disappoint most horror fans, filmmaking connoisseurs will find solace in a piece of art that is left open to various interpretations. VINYAN is true to Welz’s vision and exactly what he promised to deliver, the only failure would be that it’s not for the majority – but isn’t that what makes a movie special?” Click here for the full review.
3. Cloverfield (January 18; Paramount)
“CLOVERFIELD is one of those films you wish you could see for the very first time again because the impact will just never be the same on second viewing. I treasured the experience of getting to see this in the theater and it will forever leave a mark on me.” Click here for the full review.
2. Let the Right One In (October 24; Magnet Releasing)
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is truly a masterpiece of filmmaking that is not only beautiful, but also grim and surreal. While most people (incorrectly) find this to be a coming-of-age love story between a boy and a vampire girl, the deeper meaning is what makes this such a grizzly hardcore adaptation. When the truth of the “girl” is uncovered, that’s when the deep-seeded meaning shows itself… leaving you shaken and disturbed.
1. DRUMROLL PLZ i guess
Martyrs (TBD 2009; Dimension Extreme)
“MARTYRS is this year’s INSIDE, both films are legendary in their own right… By the end of the film MARTYRS becomes immensely uncomfortable, and making it through the final 30 minutes is a tough task. The only negative thing about Laugier’s film is that once you see it, you’ll never be able to see it for the first time ever again…” Click here for the full review.

The cast of Demons talk about their favourite superheroes and the best scary movies…

“There used to be a series on Saturday nights years ago on ITV called Thriller. It was all different stories and they released them on DVD recently and I had to get it. I remember the music used to really freak me out. There were these great stories and there was one that I remember where this guy gets locked in this house in this chamber and he is left there to die. It’s a bit like being buried alive. I remember being completely freaked out by this story.”
“I used to love Batman and Robin as a kid. Spiderman never really did it for me, Superman was ok, but Adam West as Batman was great, how he made those lines work was magnificent.”
“I was always scared by Predator. I remember watching Terminator 2 when I was younger and that was very scary too.”
“My favourite superhero is probably Peter Parker in Spiderman. I suppose he is similar to Luke as he is a normal every day guy who on one hand wants a normal life and romance but on the other feels obliged to use his skills to help people. Luke realises his obligation to fight the half-lives and he realises it is important to protect humans against them, especially as he is a Van Helsing.”
“I love Ghostbusters. Every body loves Ghostbusters. Tom Harper, the first unit director, bought me and Phil Glenister a Ghostbusters t-shirt with the original symbol which was wicked. It also relates to show as it has an element of terror, it is comic and its light hearted but it is difficult to get that balance right and bring in its targeted audience.”

“I know exactly what this is, because it terrified me as a kid. I remember having a party when I was about seven and we got out the DVD of Return to Oz and the wheelies, instead of hands and feet, had wheels. Literally to this day I have been terrified.”
“I would always be terrified of all these kind of things, so I would always go for the heroine characters. But I tell you the film I love watching and I love the remake as well – is King Kong. I love it and the thought of being the girl in King Kong too.”
“I used to love Cat Woman in Batman, my brother and I used to watch the TV show. I liked her feline movements and being strong and fighting against men.”

“I love Heroes. I completely devoured the first series of that. Peter Petrelli is awesome, if you were him you could do it all.”
“I love the Batman and Spiderman films. If I had to say anyone then it’d have to be Superman. He’s the one I’d most like to meet so he could take me on a flying trip.”
