   well this is pretty damn sad. Fortune448.com USED to be the biggest fansite until they banned a sh**load of members a few years back. Not to mention tons of members who left due to boredom or loss of interest. Sure their fan toll said over 5000 but how many were active… I’d say about 100 and that is being generous. Many of his fans moved on to other sites or just kept in contact via myspace or facebook etc. I find it so strange that these women claimed to be his #1 fans but the moment he stopped kissing their royal asses they call him a douchebag and run the other way. 448 closed because JD woke up and smelled the coffee. He realized a HUGE percentage of his fan base was actually not even on 448 anymore. Go to his myspace page and see for yourself http://www.myspace/jdfortune448.com he has more fans that support him than ones that try to take ownership over him. When 448 realized JD would not let them “own” him…they threw a tantrum as stated up above. JD is not perfect…none of us are…but for them to think they hold the power of his career in their tiny evil small minded hands…well it’s a damn shame. I can see the Karma bus coming and well I’m sure it will run over their stank asses.

   Everyone has the right to choose…I just don’t know how cool it is for people to attack someone’s lively hood…I understand that feelings were bruised and expectations may not have been meet or fulfilled, and your gonna have your feelings about that…but in no way do I think it is ok to judge anyone and go for the jugular on issues that affect there lively- hood…I have read out there many a blog in the last few hours tearing down this guy that people once supported…I get if you don’t want to support him but do we really have to go there just to make the point that you were hurt…I don’t think that his intensions were to deliberately step on peoples feelings…there are no manuals on how to navigate the many winding roads of stardom…and dealing with fans in a fair even handed way…I just don’t think that he woke up one day and said let me be an asshole to all those who supported me…Soooo even though some may be offended hurt or whatever, try to realize that to err is human to forgive divine…

   I don’t even know if this will stay up for people to read…but I needed to say…that this was a hobby for us….but JD’s career, and he has made mistakes…lord knows I have made many in my life professionally and personally…I am not trying to bash anyone here or begrudge you your feelings about the whole matter…I just think we all need to feel the way we feel with out all judgment…and I don’t think taking JD’s name for a drag in the mud is the right way to vent the frustrations….that is just how I feel about it…I would never wish upon anyone the kind of anger that has been swirling around JD and that to me is sooo sad…no matter what his flaws or what he did or didn’t do…no one knows what it’s like to walk in anyone elses shoes…not yours …not mine…not his….

   So in parting I know people are hurt…and feel what you want to feel…but let’s just try and be human and fair…and well walk away if you must but do it with a little respect for the man who you once supported…I don’t think you’d like it if someone attacked your lively- hood cause they thought you had ill intrapersonal skills regarding their high expectations…and their disappointment with the outcome of how they thought you could have done better…. after putting yourself creatively out there for people’s ENJOYMENT….that is a very narrow ledge to be on…would you like to be on it? I think not….

   JD’s music is what matters. Be sure to take a listen to his music - The Death of a Motivational Speaker - let THAT guide your opinion of him as a musician, not these petty distractions from people with their own ax to grind.

   I don’t claim to know what went down. But there is much more to his “biggest fan site” than meets the eye. First, many of those oft-lauded 5K members are long gone. This is NOT because they are no longer fans of JD. In fact, just the opposite. They left in disgust after being censored or banned for not conforming to a fan forum’s arbitrary standards of what a “fan” should be…this philosophy seemed in stark contrast to the very qualities we respected in JD, who marches to the beat of his own drummer.

   I left of my own accord over a year ago and was content to live and let live. It was only last month that I spoke out after seeing Melanie (or her moderators) had labeled banned fans “Stalker” or “Scary Groupie”. Frankly, JD doesn’t need a fan forum that is known for disrespecting his fans like that.

   Although Melanie’s account of this issue is compelling, I would like to reserve judgment until we hear from JD himself, which may never happen.

   After all the comments and blogs I have read all over the internet, it is hard to believe only one side of the story. I feel for all the fans out there that are in a state of confussion, but my advice is this, JD’s music is all the testimony you need about the man. He is an artist, a musician, and a very talented one at that. Does it really matter to us how he deals with his business? Looking at his MySpace, he has a good relationship with his fans so let’s leave it at that. Fortune448 has a lot of numbers, but really, how many of them are active or have gone off to other sites? No one has the actual count.

   I feel for you Melanie and your perceived wrong that was done to you. I am sure all the members that started with you were gratetful for a forum to come to and share their enthusiam for the man, but as with anything, we all move on to sites/home that we feel best suites us.

   I wish JD Fortune all the best. I will continue to support his music as I have other artists as long as their music suites me. I am a music fan who likes JD’s music and other musicians. The man is a Human Being afterall. Wasnt he the one that was all honest about his past shortcomings afterall?

   I saw that you posted the meaning of Douchebag on your site, maybe you should look up another couple of words and take a look inside… Fortune448 had quite of few “Staff” members who come to mind.

   I LOVE how somehow 448 ends up looking like the victim here. We heard their side of the story - no judgment on my part until we hear from JD on the matter.

   Besides, what really matters is the music. And Jd’s got some really good music up on his myspace. Fan wars and fangirls egos be damned… I’m enjoying the music no matter what, dammit!

   Ha ha! You wankers! Either fortune448 was irrelevant, because no one even went there OR it was vital to his livelihood and anything posted on it his damaging to his career. Which is it? Can’t have it both ways.

   You guys are the most obsessive freaks! How long ago did this shit happen? You’re STILL bitching? As for the latest music it sucks, sure old desperado housewives might find it fun masturbation material but it sucks. The guy is so over!

   Why would JD’s “fans” draw attention to an article that shows him in such a negative light? Seriously, you’re underlining that the site lost members because they lost interest? As I recall, it was right around the time the next reality flavor came out, because I was disappointed that so many could be so fickle. Then little cliques of people left to promote their own self-interests, returning periodically to admonish fortune448 members for their opinions and the staff for their decisions, even making up conspiracy theories! No wonder some were banned. That fortune448 stuck around this long is impressive.

   However, JD is trying to get a new solo career off the ground, so why anyone thinks this treatment of ANY fansite is acceptable is beyond me. He couldn’t just admit that the site wasn’t a good fit, he had to make up some pretty wild stories to get out of the deal. Is that what really happened with INXS, too? He is the master of his own destruction.

    A nobody from nowhere going nowhere in life. Paid and bought for just like yourself, thinking 500.00 will get them somewhere in life. Whether it was the mod’s, Mel, or the singer himself, nothing from nothing leaves nothing. Play it forward, and be ripped off, play it backwards and you dear Mel and the boy are still ripped off. Playing for Today, you just might find an answer.

    Oh why oh why, oh why did it all fault? because it was never about the boy but about something nobody can understand. Some people will do anything to hurt another, well some people just don’t want to play and yet other refuse to give up the game. I gave up the game a long time ago, however others don’t know when to say it’s done and over with. Hang up your boxing gloves, b/c this game is getting so old!

    Go back to your corners, and go on living your lifes b/c from what I see, chickens and mics, it’s all just to get you all to fuck off.
