‘S MOST MEMORABLE POSTS OF 2008: NOMINATIONS POST!

It’s that time again!

In case you weren’t a member of a year ago, or if don’t remember the posts: last year, the mods did a "Most Memorable Posts of 2007" contest. If you want to take a look at that results post and/or get an idea of what I’m talking about, CLICK HERE.

A lot of people seemed to enjoy last year’s post, so we’re going to do it again for 2008!

Basically, the goal is to list (and, eventually, rank) ’s most memorable posts of the year.

In this post, members will have a chance to nominate a post for consideration; subsequently, everyone else will have a chance to "second" the nomination (OMG JUST LIKE STUDENT SENATE IN HIGH SCHOOL!). Then, either tomorrow or Wednesday I’ll make another post that contains a poll with the top 15 or 20 "vote-getters." Finally, I’ll make a third (and final) entry that ranks the most memorable posts of the year (probably the Top 10, in order), based on the poll results.

YES, I KNOW THIS WILL PROBABLY BE TL;DR. BEAR WITH ME!

So, basically… the point of this entry is to nominate your favorite posts of the year to be considered for the poll. Each ORIGINAL comment (at least for the first couple of pages) should look something like this:

TITLE OF POST AND/OR SHORT DESCRIPTION OF POST

DIRECT LINK TO POST

e.g. (I’ll use one from 2007):

Death of Anna Nicole

Seems simple enough, no?

Then, if you see a ~nominated~ post that you feel should be included in the poll, simply reply to the original nomination comment. After everyone has commented, I’ll go through all the comments and select the entries to be included in the poll.

Get it? Got it? Good!

A couple of notes:

1. Please, PLEASE do not leave any original comments in this post (at least until it has two or three pages of them) with anything other than a formal nomination. OT comments (especially in the beginning) will be deleted.

2. If you have any questions for me with regard to how the contest will run, either ask me in this post (but ONLY once there are a few pages of comments, etc. blah blah blah) or send me an LJ message.

3. Throughout the year, the mods compiled their own list of what we thought were "memorable posts." I’ll closely monitor the initial nominations, but if people are slow to nominate and/or we feel that certain great posts are being overlooked, I may start a few nomination threads of my own. That said, fear not any sort of mod abuse! Remember that the key for my selection of posts for the poll will be the number of REPLIES to the original nomination comments.

4. Once the first five or so pages are said and done and most (if not all) big posts have been nominated, feel free to discuss ~The Year That Was~ in the remainder of the post. BUT NO OT COMMENTS IN THE BEGINNING; I’M SERIOUS! >:O

P.S. — ON SECOND THOUGHT, I’LL MAKE A ~NOMINATION~ COMMENT RIGHT AWAY SO THAT NOBODY GETS CONFUSED ABOUT THE INTENDED FORMAT OF THIS WHOLE THING. SO, ONCE YOU THINK OF/REMEMBER A POST YOU’D LIKE TO NOMINATE, JUST REPLICATE THAT COMMENT WITH THE DESCRIPTION/LINK TO THE ONE YOU WANT TO NOMINATE YOURSELVES. TY!
