Britney Spears’ dad claims allegations that he battered Sam Lutfi last year are completely bogus — because Jamie Spears believes he had a legal right to beat his ass if he wanted to … but Jamie is coy about whether he actually did it.

In legal papers filed today, Jamie is very careful to not admit he punched Lutfi in the chest at Brit’s house last year — as Lutfi suggested in a recent lawsuit. However, Jamie says the law allows him to open a can of whoop ass if the situation calls for it — and according to the docs, the Lutfi situation called for it.

Jamie claims “he was provoked” by Lutfi and was “privileged to use force in and about the matter complained.”

He adds, “Any necessary force may be used to protect from wrongful injury the person or property of oneself, or a wife, husband, child, parent or other relative or member of one’s family.”

Amy Winehouse has been telling holidaymakers in St Lucia that she wishes she was friends with Britney Spears.

The Rehab singer — who is currently on vacation on the Caribbean has shocked people with her drunken behavior.

“I was at a beach bar and Amy went past pissed, saying she would love to give Britney a piggy-back down the beach,” a source told the Daily Star newspaper.

Amy, 25, is also said to be finding life hard without estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 26. “One minute she hates Blake and the next she’s crying about how much she loves and misses him,” an insider said.

Meanwhile, Amy’s dad Mitch has decided to distance himself from his troubled daughter.

“Now, if it’s alcohol instead of hard drugs — I don’t think I can go through that again,” he said earlier this week. “I’ve decided to distance myself, and whatever happens, happens. It’s her life. It’s her career. It’s her decision.”
